Study Day

Event type: Study Day
Date: 12th November 2025
Venue: The Hi-Tide

Our November study day celebrates Porthcawl's 200th anniversary.

Ceri Joseph, known to most of us as an outstanding local historian, will regale us with the tale of our coming into being, and of the people behind our rise to the town we are.

We then move to understand the history of two of our town's institutions - the RNLI and The Grand Pavilion.

The RNLI is celebrating sixty years of manning a lifeboat station here. Our speaker is  RNLI's Clive Jones, who will highlight some of their Porthcawl history,

Following lunch, our final speaker on the day is Anna Rankin, Reference and Local Studies Assistant with Awen Cultural Trust, who run our libraries, and the Grand Pavilion, which has a hugely interesting history, as you might expect,  featuring some world famous characters.

An altogether fascinating day for lovers of Porthcawl. Bring your friends too, they may decide to join!

Lunch and refreshments will be available - details to follow.
